OTH- Daily Odds 7/20/19 is part of a daily series providing you with the odds for all major sports playing that day.
1:05 Rockies @ Yankees – Things just keep on rolling for the Bronx Bombers. They are 6-2 since the All Star Break and even though their offense normally gets the attention, the pitching staff has warranted some as well. As a team, the Yankees have given up 16 runs since the All Star Break (average of two runs a game). They will send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound and he has been great at home this season. In 11 home starts, he is 5-2 with a 2.86 ERA. He has given up four runs over 21 innings in his last three starts at Yankee Stadium. The struggling Rockies have lost five in a row and they will send Antonio Senzatela to the mound. He has given up 15 runs over his last two starts (1 home, 1 away). The Yankees are now 30 games over .500, and their last eleven wins have all been by more than one run.
Yankees -1.5 -145
2:20 Padres @ Cubs – The Padres have gone 1-6 in their seven games since the All Star Break and have fallen to last place in the NL West. The Cubs have maintained their season long dominance at home, going 6-1 in their seven games after the break. They are now 34-17 at Wrigley Field. On Saturday, they send Jose Quintana to the mound. After seeing his record go to 4-7 on June 22, Quintana has been much more consistent. He has won his last three starts, given up six hits in each start, and has allowed six runs in 19 innings (2.84 ERA). The Padres send Joey Lucchesi to the mound, who is 7-4 on the season with a 3.92 ERA, however, he is 1-2 with a 5.79 ERA in road starts this season. The Padres have lost three of his last four starts.
4:05 Mets @ Giants – For the first time all season the Giants are at .500. After being 12 games under .500 at the end of June, they have went on an absolute tear, going 14-2 in their last 16 games. After surviving DeGrom and Syndergaard the last two nights, the Giants look to take game three of the series this afternoon. They will send Jeff Samardzija to the mound, who has been excellent during the Giants’ streak. He has won his last three starts and given up four runs in 21 and ⅔ innings (1.66 ERA). The Mets will counter with Walker Lockett. On the season, he went 1-2 in AAA with a 3.92 ERA. In his two major league starts in June he has been hammered, giving up 10 runs in 7 and ⅔ innings (11.74 ERA). Things are clicking for the Giants right now and look for them to keep rolling.
7:05 Red Sox @ Orioles – Red Sox -1.5 -135
7:05 Phillies @ Pirates – The Pirates have been sluggish since the All Star Break, going 1-6 in seven games, and have only scored 19 runs in those games (2.7 runs per game). Saturday may be the day for the Pirates to turn it around though. The Phillies send Zach Eflin to the mound, who has been roughed up as of late. Over his last four starts, his ERA has jumped from 2.83 to 4.16. During those starts, he has given up 35 hits and 23 runs in 20 innings of work. On the season, the Phillies have only won two of his 10 road starts. The Pirates counter with Joe Musgrove, and he has been great at home in June and July. The Pirates have won all four of his home starts in June and July, and he has given up seven runs in 24 innings of work (2.63 ERA).
7:20 Nationals @ Braves – The Braves take on the Nationals in game three of a four game set. Mike Soroka will make the start for the Braves tonight. Soroka comes into the game with a 10-1 record and a 2.24 ERA. The Braves have won nine of Soroka’s last ten starts. Atlanta has won 21 of their last 30 against teams from the National league East. Expect the Braves offense to get to Anibal Sanchez early.
9:10 Marlins @ Dodgers – Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers face off with Sandy Alcantara and the Marlins tonight. Sandy Alcantara has struggled as of late going 0-3, while giving up 12 earned runs in 17.2 innings. The Marlins have lost seven of his last ten starts. Kershaw, who has pitched well at home this season, is 6-0 in LA. Look for the Dodgers to give Kershaw plenty of run support.
Dodgers -1.5 -150
Flier of the Day
7:10 Royals @ Indians – Jakob Junis wants another shot at the Cleveland Indians. In his last five starts, Junis has pitched well against the Twins, Nationals, and White Sox, and pitched poorly twice against Cleveland. In his three starts not against Cleveland, Junis has given up five earned runs in twenty innings (2.25 ERA) and has struck out 24 batters. The two starts against Cleveland have produced subpar results, with him giving up 11 runs and 15 hits in 10 and ⅔ innings. The Indians counter with Adam Plutko who has struggled in his last two starts. He has given up 16 hits and 10 runs in 10 innings of work against the Tigers and the Orioles. Even though the Indians have won six in a row, the Royals are 6-2 since the All Star Break and have scored 54 runs in those 8 games. This may be a much more even game than the records indicate and look for the Royals bats to get to Plutko.
7:30 Houston @ Toronto – Toronto -1 +120
